Day 4 (Sunday)

Brad & Christian at Comic-Con, July 2008

Back to Friday

Things really wind down on Sunday. Still a lot of events, panels & stuff to see, but it's less hectic.   We got to the convention center around 9:00AM.   Christian went to do his own thing while I attended the Tribute To Jack Kirby panel to start the day.   Mark Evenier moderated the panel (Mark's new book on Kirby is excellent, by the way).   The panel included Jerry Robinson, one of Jack's peers and a comics legend himself-- he was responsible for the creation of the Joker.

I hoped to get into the panel for the TV series Supernatural, but the room was already full by the time I left the Kirby Tribute.   So I caught up with Christian in the Exhibit Hall and we spent the rest of the day finishing our exploration of the massive trade show floor.

Christian, being an obsessive Lost fan, kept returning to the Dharma Initiative booth. He spent about an hour there on Sunday.

Hulk statue in the Marvel booth. This thing was BIG.

War Monger statue from the "Iron Man" film.

Now HERE'S a name for an art studio:

Christian bought two prints from the artist Stephan Martinier. We've got to get them framed for his room.

The Disney booth had on display an amazing diorama set for Nightmare Before Christmas. Heidi would've been drooling:

Now check out these prices:

The Warner Bros. booth featured the Owl ship from Watchmen:

Here's an image for you: On the left, the Diablo Productions booth; on the right, the Christian Comic Arts Society. Hence the signage:

And Now, The Costumes...

I had a few folks ask me to take pictures of people in costumes. It's certainly a Comic-Con tradition. Unfortunately, because I spent all day Friday in Hall H, plus all the other sessions (and my camera running out of batteries on Sunday), I didn't get many photos of the costumes. But for those of you who are interested, here's a small handful of the folks in costume (mostly photographed on Sunday):

NOTE: none of these people were working at the booths-- I only photo'd the fans.

Sweeney Todd!

Just another day, waiting for the bus...

Crossing the street in costume can be dangerous!

Elves love nachos, too!

Steampunks. My prediction: The next big thing!

Who's your favorite "Indiana Jones" character?
